Hey sports fan, cha'boi is hitting the road next month! I don't really talk about this a lot, but I suffer from social anxiety. It makes interacting with people tough. I am always so afraid of saying the wrong thing or coming off stupid. I often avoid people I know in public because I don't know how to talk to them. I practice a plethora or mundane answers to mundane questions I might get like "Oh, this shirt? Yeah, it's new." just so I will have a well rehearsed answer if I get the question. Standup helped me get more comfortable with talking, but I found I was still just doing painstakingly rehearsed material and praying I never was put in a situation...
I had to be a bit hush hush about this until it was up, but I had the good fortune of being a part of a very funny, completely absurd web series called My Kitchen Can Be Anything. The series was created by Eric Toth and Pat Thornton, which are two of the funniest people I've ever met. My official title was Associate Producer, but I wore many hats. On set I was the Camera Assistant, Production Assistant, Assistant Director, Script Supervisor and in post I was the ingest op, colourist, and sound mixer. A lot of work, but I am so happy with how it all came out!
I think there will be a season two,...
I am bad at taking advice. I am good at giving advice, but bad at taking it. One of the biggest pieces of advice given to new writers is to read a lot of scripts. January will also be the month of 20 scripts. Every 'work day' I need to read a script. I started today with Bob's Burgers 106 (Sheesh! Cab, Bob?). I will keep updating this entry with the scripts I read.

Sixty something years ago Ed Mirvish opened up Honest Ed's Bargain House at Bathurth and Bloor in Toronto. It's been a Toronto institution ever since. Until today. Today the store will close for the last time and never re-open, making way for a bunch of shoebox condos and, I assume, a coffee shop that sells mix CDs like it's 2006 still. I've never lived in The Annex, and I am very lazy, so I didn't frequent Ed's, but the three or four times a year my wife would take me there to pick up a few things was always a treat (minus the washrooms which are not built for the hefty gentleman in mind). Honest...
This past weekend I went down to The Second City theatre with Dogs N Buns star Dan Haug to find out if we won a Canadian Comedy Award for best short film. For those of you saying "whaaaaa?!?". Yeah, thanks to a lot of awesome people voting for us, my short film was nominated for a CCA. Pretty neat, eh? I would like to thank everyone who voted for us to win. The level of support and enthusiasm you all showed me made my heart grow three sizes. And another big thanks needs to go to Dan Haug, for working his butt off to get us votes. A better guy I have not met. Unfortunately, we didn't...
Earlier today I was invited to perform at a Festival Showcase at Comedy Bar. This is where festival bookers scout talent for their amazing festivals. The show is $5, but if you message me before Tuesday afternoon, I can put you on the guest list for free! Details are below (and on the SHOWS page)
HEY THERE! You're looking for MattKlopot.com and you landed here. I recently switched servers and my entire site imploded like a frozen burrito you accidentally put in the microwave for 11:20 instead of 1:20. Yeah, messy. The site is slowly becoming somethig, but it will be pretty bare for a bit. I will try and blog as much as I can when cool stuff happens, and I will update the shows section when I have upcoming shows. For all my old blog posts, head over to MattsKindaFunny.Tumblr.com
